“Homage to Humanity” – Jimmy Nelson’s Mundari journey and his new book


 

As the one of the spots of his amazing global cultures journey, the famous photographer Jimmy Nelson and his friend Stephanie van der Wiel visited Mundari land in Terekeka State of South Sudan in 2016, they were living together with the kindness and peace loving herdsmen at Khartoum cattle camp, to observe and document our daily life style.

With day time temperatures reaching 45 oc. sweat, dirt and dust become ones new skin. In time, the Mundari began to teach Jimmy that a daily applied layer of ash to the total body would protect his sensitive skin. As it has protected their’s for centuries.

The biblical drama of the early morning light, caresses the Mundari as the smoke slowly rises revealing them in all their tribal beauty.

The Mundari people cannot live without their cattle. Their diet consists of milk and they will only kill an animal when it’s sick.

2 years after an unforgettable journey, Jimmy published his new book “Homage to Humanity” in 2018. We are so proud that we can stand together with Wodaabe, Muchimba, Mwila, Mucawana, Chichimeca, Zapotec, Rarámuri, Q’ero, Marquesan, Khudi, Dolgan, Kazakh, Khalkha, Ngalop, Sharchop, Mir, Sadhus, Miao, Bardi, Mowanjum, Iatmul, Korafe, Tolai, Huli, Kaluli, Enga and Nagula communities from our global village shown on this book. There are 26 pages and 16 photos for Mundari, and with the COMPANION APP on your mobile device, you will able to watching extra immersive 360 VR films and behind-the-scenes videos that hiding on the book.
