[ About Mundari ] Daniel Deng Atong – The First African Bishop of the Episcopal Church of the Sudan

by Clement Maring Samuel Swaka Yibi – 25 JULY 2019

✝️

The First African Bishop of the Episcopal Church of the Sudan was a Mundari from Tombek specifically from Sera. He was called Daniel Deng Atong (1912-1976), a name given to him by his foster parents. His history of moving from Mundari to Dinka land was similar to that of Moses in Egypt. Both were thrown as kids and adopted by different mothers. Both have shepherd staffs to lead their people (prophetic ministry).

We thank the Mundari of Sera for contributing for the history of Sudan and South Sudan. Greater thanks for Dinka Bor in Malek for adopting the child and groomed him to prominence. Glory be to God.
