by Mundari Online – 30 JULY 2019
Martyrs’ Day in South Sudan is observed on 30th July. It is a public holiday and a remembrance day that commemorates those who died during the liberation struggle of South Sudan and the death anniversary of John Garang de Mabior (23 June 1945 – 30 July 2005) who is widely considered the most influential person in the history of the world’s youngest nation.
We remember our martyrs who scarified their lives for our country. They are living in our minds in the form of memories. We will never forget them. We should always tell new generations the heroic stories of the martyrs.
No need for more death and destruction in South Sudan because many lives had been lost, a lot of blood and the ultimate price was already paid for by the martyrs for the freedom during the liberation struggle. Enough is enough to the suffering of people of South Sudan. Time for death and destruction is over. It’s time for us to work together for development, it’s time to build the nation and move our country forward.
